An Ethnopharmacologist, Ethnobotanist, and extraordinary teacher and healer within a lineage of traditional healing, Rocio Alarcón has spent over 30 years working with ethnic groups in the tropical rainforest and Andes Mountains of Ecuador and in the Basque Country, Spain. Over 20 years ago, Rocio founded the Iamoe Center near the Yasuní National Park in Ecuador. This center protects the Amazon Rainforest, demonstrates a way of working with the Land to benefit all, assists in scientific studies on the Plants of the Amazon, and brings together the local indigenous groups helping to keep their traditions and crafts alive, while giving them skills to start businesses. The Iamoe is surrounded on 3 sides by oil companies and provides a beacon of hope. Rocio is renowned and beloved world wide for her caring, loving and passionate approach to people, plants and nature.
